Technology Assistant

Job Description

The Technology Assistant is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of Art Jameel’s IT strategy and needs at Jameel Arts Centre in Dubai; the role also contributes to the successful delivery of programmes and exhibitions by providing highly professional and innovative IT, tech and audio-visual solutions and expertise. This role is positioned within the Operations department and requires strong liaison and collaboration with colleagues across the organisation.


Accountability

The Technology Assistant reports to the Operations & IT Manager.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Contribute to the development of Jameel Arts Centre’s IT and tech strategy, processes, and systems with guidance from the Operations & IT Manager; ensure stability and security based on industry standards 
  • Manage the implementation, acquisition, maintenance, inventory, and disposal of computer and audio-visual equipment and systems; the building’s network and telephone infrastructure; and ensure optimum upkeep and performance 
  • Support the administration and maintenance of Art Jameel’s cloud-based services, software subscriptions and assignments
  • Support and contribute to the implementation of e-commerce services and technologies
  • Support the on-boarding of staff and troubleshooting software needs across platforms, Windows administration, and conducting remote support when necessary; act as the first contact in case of any IT and audio-visual related issues at Jameel Arts Centre 
  • Support the Operations & IT Manager in the design and implementation of Art Jameel’s IT strategies, data collection, privacy, and retention policies
  • Coordinate the development of and manage the implementation of Art Jameel Labs (custom-made in-house solutions) 
  • Lead on ensuring all IT security, data and infrastructure risks are appropriately preempted, managed and mitigated 
  • Support in the delivery of IT-related contracts and liaise with service providers on implementation and maintenance 
  • Provide IT and audio-visual support for programmes and exhibitions, including on-site management of a/v needs for IRL talks, events, live-streaming, broadcasting and/or recording 
  • Act as the focal point for all audio-visual technical requirements set by the programming team for exhibitions and other programmes from design through to delivery

Qualifications and past experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 
  • Minimum 2 years experience in IT, preferably with experience in a creative environment
  • Knowledge of Google Workspace administration or similar company-wide cloud-based account management
  • Knowledge in maintaining and configuring CISCO network equipment, such as switches, access points, and IP telephony 
  • Proficiency in Windows and Mac administration and troubleshooting 
  • Strong analytical skills, with a methodical approach to updating, maintaining and troubleshooting systems 
  • Strong work ethic, with excellent organisational and priority-setting skills
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills 
  • Openness to continually sourcing and learning new IT and audio-visual technologies, standards, and setup 

Conditions of Work 

  • This is a full-time position based in Dubai, UAE
  • Weekend and evening work according to events and programmes is as required
