Visitor Experience Assistant

Role

This position is ideally suited to an outgoing individual with at least one year of experience in a creative or people-facing organisation. The Visitor Experience Assistant must be customer-service oriented, with excellent interpersonal, facilitation and organisational skills. This role involves collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders and the community-at-large, and often acts as visitors’ first point of contact with Jameel Arts Centre and Art Jameel. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, solutions-oriented young professional with the ability to introduce visitors to Art Jameel’s programmes and exhibitions, contribute to events and galvanise community engagement.

Required: Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English


Accountability

The Visitor Experience Assistant reports to the Head of Public Programmes and Partnerships


Job Description

  • Welcoming visitors to Jameel Arts Centre (includes evenings and weekends)
  • Managing in-person, phone and email enquiries, including facilitating the registration of groups and/or special requests
  • Providing Arabic-language information to visitors and group tours of the Centre and its exhibitions upon request
  • Support the Visitor Experience Team in managing customer service experience across all areas of the Centre to create a culture of hospitality and expertise
  • Attempting to resolve and act on visitors’ feedback and concerns; recognise the need to escalate if required
  • Supporting the Visitor Experience Coordinator with the supervision of volunteers and docents, which includes training and scheduling rotas
  • Ensuring smooth operations of all front desk functions
  • Creating monthly Jameel Arts Centre visitor reports for management
  • Supporting the Learning Coordinator in museum visit programmes for schools groups and workshops
  • Assisting with events across the Centre and accompanying park and associated sites by sending invitations, receiving and cataloguing RSVPs and corresponding with target outreach groups under the guidance of the Public Programmes and Events Team or Strategy and Development Team


Qualifications

  • At least one year working in creative or people-facing organisation
  • Experience working in a team based environment and managing multiple priorities
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, in English and Arabic
  • Outgoing personality and ability to comfortably interact with new people in a pleasant manner
  • An affinity for the arts and community engagement and the desire to be part of a growing, dynamic team
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • Ability to represent Art Jameel in a positive, professional manner


Conditions of Work

  • This is a full-time position based in Dubai, UAE
  • Evening and weekend shifts required
