This workshop is inspired by the Jameel Arts Centre gardens home to 33 species of trees from 7 different desert geographies from around the world. The workshop focuses on botany by way of rubbing patterns techniques. The participants discover and imagine the stories and histories behind these plants -some of which are as old as 200 years. The workshop is preceded by a tour of the exhibitions led by Head of Learning and Research, Uns Kattan.
Key workshop takeaways focus on looking at art but also on making and reflecting.
Sessions are free-to-attend with advance registration required. Register by emailing [email protected] before February 23. Limited spaces available.
This session is held by photographer and filmmaker, Reem Falaknaz.
As a photographer and filmmaker, Falaknaz travels throughout the Emirates, collecting and documenting the narratives of its inhabitants. Through her work she explores the UAE’s cultural composition and the transient nature of its residents.
