Join us for a hands-on Date Palm Paper Making Workshop inspired by Mohammad Alfaraj: Seas are sweet, fish tears are salty.
This engaging session welcomes audiences to explore connections between community, nature, and contemporary art through the process of papermaking. Participants will begin with an gallery walk, focusing on Mohammad Al Faraj: Seas are sweet, fish tears are salty. With guided discussions, participants are encouraged to ask questions, share observations, and reflect on the themes of the exhibition.
Led by James Matthews, the workshop offers an introduction to paper making using locally sourced date palm fibers. Participants will learn how to repurpose natural materials from their surroundings, mirroring the artist’s practice through the papermaking process; soaking, pulping, and pressing the fibers to create unique sheets of handmade paper.
