Family Saturdays at the Jameel: Polite Existence by Tsuyoshi Hisakado

Join us for an exciting and interactive day-long experience as we present the second edition of Family Saturdays at the Jameel featuring a guided tour of the current exhibitions and a series of hands-on art making activities for all ages.

The tour, led by an arts education expert, involes an indepth exploration of the current exhibition; Polite Existence by Tsuyoshi Hisakado. Following the tour, families are invited to participate in four immersive self-led activities inspired by the artists works.

As children and families tour the first-floor galleries, participants gain a deep engagement with artists’ themes, mediums, and processes. Through the self-led activities, participants learn various interactive techniques such as collage, experimenting with bubbles, drawing sounds and making wind spinners.

The activities are free-to-attend and run all day to encourage and support creativity and imagination by providing space for children to experiment with various mediums and materials at their own pace.

Family Saturdays at the Jameel is suitable for all ages. All crafts and materials, step by step guides and instructional videos will be provided.

The tour will begin at 11 am and participants are welcome to drop by and enjoy the activities until 4 pm.

Tsuyoshi Hisakado (b.1981) Lives and works in Kyoto, Japan

Tsuyoshi Hisakado is one of Japan’s leading contemporary artists. His work has been featured in various exhibitions, including ‘Practice of Spiral’, a solo exhibition at the Toyota Municipal Museum of Art (2020), the Hawai’i Triennial (2022),  58th Venice Biennale (2019), Kyoto Experiment (2019) and Aichi Triennale (2016). He has been awarded the ‘Mercedes-Benz Art Scope 2018-2020’ and the Audience Award at the ‘Nissan Art Award 2015’ among others.
