Opening Talk: Night Stone – with Candice Lin

Marking the opening of ‘Night Stone‘, join us for a conversation with artist Candince Lin to hear firsthand about her first solo presentation in West Asia.

In dialogue with Art Jameel’s Lucas Morin, Exhibitions Curator, and Nora Razian, Head of Exhibitions, Candice will discuss her work on the contemporary trade of manganese between Australia and China to the 18th-century commerce of sea cucumbers. Intrigued by the sea cucumbers’ unique digestive and respiratory systems, Candice Lin imagines and depicts their toxic encounter with manganese and the surprising bodily transformations that follow.

Originally commissioned by the Biennale of Sydney and Monash University Museum of Art | MUMA in Melbourne, the installation is accompanied by new ceramic sculptures, textile works and a site-specific mural.
