Library Circles, a series of research, talks, and experimental interventions by UAE practitioners at the Jameel Library and Jameel Arts Centre, delves into alternative research methodologies with a focus on “thinking in public.”
Join Jameel Library for a Library Circles tour led in English by Haneena PA. at the Jameel Arts Centre on Sunday, 9 November 2025 at 11:00am.
During this tour Haneena guides visitors through her research display, sharing insights into her archival project on Mappila women writers from colonial Kerala, India. The tour explores the unique methodologies of her research, revealing how the project shifted from a traditional archival search to a more personal and intimate approach.
Visitors learn about the challenges of finding historical texts and how Haneena discovered what she calls bedroom archives, the informal personal collections that exist within people’s homes. Through reproductions, transcripts and field notes, the display brings to light the stories of writers like Puthur Amina, who used their work to question societal norms.
To register for the tour, please visit the provided RSVP link. This tour is limited to 15 people and will be conducted in English. Kindly arrive at the Library 15 minutes before the scheduled time and check in at the library desk.
