Library Circles is a series comprising research, talks, and experimental interventions conducted by UAE practitioners at the Jameel Library and Jameel Arts Centre. The programme delves into alternative research methodologies and representations, focusing on the concept of ‘thinking in public.’
Join Jameel Library for a Library Circles tour led in English by Samar Halloum at the Jameel Arts Centre on Saturday, 1 February 2025, at 11:00 am.
During this tour, Halloum will guide visitors through her research display, sharing insights into her fieldwork, findings, and the unique socio-cultural dynamics of refugee camps explored in her project. Visitors will learn about the adaptation of communal practices, the informal shaping of built environments, and the continuity of socio-spatial norms over decades.

Samar Halloum
Samar Halloum is a Palestinian architect and educator, holding a Master of Architecture (M.Arch) from Yale University and a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the American University of Sharjah (AUS). She received the William Wirt Winchester Travel Fellowship Award and has worked on culturally driven projects in the UAE. Halloum served as the Design and Research Lead for the National Pavilion UAE at the 18th International Architecture Exhibition at La Biennale di Venezia. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor at the American University of Sharjah.
