With the aim of stirring fruitful conversations within a community of curious individuals, afikra presents the 24th Dubai edition of its monthly salon-style evening where members of the community present about cultural and historical topics they are curious about, but not experts in.
Topics are never announced beforehand and have included 1960s Egyptian film, Ottoman legal traditions, Omani architecture, the history of the hair salon industry in Casablanca, the great authors of postmodern Sudan and more. Check out previous afikra talks here.
Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and snacks for the picnic-style evening on the rooftop. An English-language exhibitions tour will be offered prior to the event at 5pm, with check-in at the Welcome Desk.
The event is free and open to all. RSVP is required.
