Join us for a hands-on session exploring the meditative process of bookbinding. Centred around the Coptic Stitch, a centuries old technique that leaves an exposed spine with chain-stitch linking.
Guided by Majd Ismail, participants use loose sheets of paper and raw materials to create their own, hand-bound sketchbook to take home. The session introduces participants to the technical skills required to learn bookbinding while allowing them to make and decorate the books using fabric, magazine clippings and their own materials for a personalised experience. This session offers the opportunity to connect with the slow, intentional craft of coptic stitching.
This workshop forms part of our enriching art programme for adults, fostering deep engagement through hands-on experiences that challenge and inspire. No prior experience in bookbinding is necessary. Participants may bring their own photographs, fabric and other objects to collage. All required materials are provided.
This is a paid workshop and is suitable for individuals aged 15+. Limited spots available. Book now to secure your place!
