The Jameel Library Reading Groups continue with another session of ArtEd. In this series, participants read and discuss a selected text that explores the theory and practice of art education within diverse contexts.
In this session, participants will read and discuss the chapter Through Uncertainty and Discomfort – The Struggle of Searching for Anti-Oppressive Practices for Art Education by Larissa Haggrén. The session will be led in English by Dr. Christianna Bonin, Assistant Professor of Art History and Theory at American University of Sharjah. The discussion will centre around addressing questions such as: What are challenges currently faced by instructors of socially, economically, and culturally diverse classrooms? Why is inclusivity important? What can art do in particular to support inclusivity in education?
Reading groups are free and open to all. Registration is required, as space is limited. Registered participants are expected to commit to the reading material, to attend the session they have registered for, and to support a respectful, informed and open discursive environment.
