Spring Arts Camp

Spring Arts Camp returns for its third edition!

Young children, aged 6-12, are invited to join Jameel Arts Centre’s enriching two-week, full-day programme packed with fun, stimulating art-making activities. The days are structured to introduce students to various materials, mediums and subjects, from drawing to architecture and sculpting. Each day entails a full programme of activities, including snacks, lunch and all materials required to carry out each of the tasks, with each week ending with a cooking class hosted by Teible, our farm-to-fork restaurant.

Themes and activities:

This camp focusses on Journeys, through playful observational studies, collaborative exercises and enjoyable activities, students learn unique ways of perceiving and understanding the journeys one takes. From land to sea to city, all the lessons are designed to introduce students to the various ways artists perceive journeys and landscapes, feature hands-on and interactive workshops created by the Art Jameel Youth Assembly.

Taking inspiration from architectural sites at Jameel, students gain a deep dive into what it takes to put together an exhibition alongside artist Asunción Molinos Gordo. Students also participate in daily visits to the Jameel Library, Artist Gardens and exhibition tours, actively engaging with the team members responsible for each project. The much-loved “behind-the-scenes tour of the museum” also makes a return, offering children an exclusive peek into the collection room and storage area, where artworks are carefully stored and maintained. Students will also have the opportunity to experience their surroundings on a guided walk through Jaddaf by artist Naser Al Sughaiyer

The camp prepares students to learn as they create and make their own cities, boats and more. Each day entails fun activities as they encounter different artists and creative individuals to lead the session, with a special lesson hosted by Wind Rises where children gain a deeper understanding on sailing heritage and the role it plays in the UAE. All students will go home having experienced an array of new art-making techniques.
