Teible, an artisan bakery and local seasonal dining concept now at Jameel Arts Centre

An artisan bakery and seasonal dining concept, Teible is Jameel Arts Centre’s museum restaurant. Set by the creek of Dubai’s Jaddaf Waterfront neighbourhood, the eatery uses fresh seasonal produce to create an eco-conscious tasting menu, featuring experimental items and underpinned by a farm-to-fork philosophy. Teible works closely with local farmers across the UAE, crafting storylines for each dish with the aim to take diners on the journey that brought these ingredients together.

With a treat for everyone, Teible includes a micro-artisan bakery with breakfast, speciality coffee and an upscale dining experience with a bespoke tasting menu for lunch and dinner, in addition to a selection of refreshing beverages. Recently launched is also a new plant-based bakery, in partnership with Universal Bakes from Tokyo. This partnership highlights the shared values of both entities, committed to using locally sourced ingredients and sustainable practices, bringing delicious vegan breads and pastries to the forefront.

Teible, the brainchild of South Korean entrepreneur Peter Ahn, celebrates the UAE’s agricultural legacy while uniting the treasures of the soil with contemporary culinary artistry. The name ‘Teible’ is a tribute to the founder’s daughter, “Tei”, and resonates with the sentiment of a ‘table’ – a symbol of communion, fellowship, and cherished connections. From inception, Ahn envisioned Teible as more than just a restaurant, but as a meeting ground where families and friends connect, creating cherished memories over food. His philosophy ties together sustainability, innovation, and respect for the land.

Designed by Jameel Arts Centre consultant architecture studio, waiwai, the space and interior design pay homage to Japanese and Scandinavian schools of thought, integrating natural elements while maximising the flow of light. The minimalist elegance ensures that the culinary creations remain the spotlight, while the space provides diners of all ages an opportunity to experience the Centre’s diverse exhibitions and programmes, enjoy the creekside views of Jaddaf Waterfront Sculpture Park – the UAE’s first open-air art and sculpture park – or spend some time in the neighbouring Jameel Library, a growing multimedia library collection featuring books, journals, catalogues, theses, artists’ files and ephemera in both English and Arabic. Free of charge and open to all.

Teible’s menu is a symphony of local flavours and innovative techniques, evolving with the seasons to reflect the freshest local produce. Underpinned by sustainability, the restaurant champions techniques like fermenting, pickling, and preserving to minimise food waste and enhance the value of local harvests. This dedication to locality and sustainability has earned Teible the Michelin Bib Gourmand and Green Star awards, making it the only restaurant in the UAE to be doubly honoured by Michelin. By sourcing 90%-95% of its ingredients locally, Teible showcases the richness of UAE agriculture while pushing local farmers towards higher quality productions.

Key Highlights:

  • 2022: Grand inauguration at Jameel Arts Centre and immediate accolade with the Michelin Bib Gourmand.
