Workshop: Eraser Stamp Making

Inspired by The Storyteller and the Obedient Tide by Jumana Emil Abboud, this workshop draws on the artist’s use of carved wooden stamps as part of her storytelling practice, where symbols, patterns and repeated marks carry stories across surfaces.

Participants begin by sketching and carving their designs into erasers, transforming simple shapes into hand-made stamps. Each participant is invited to think of a symbol or motif that holds a story, memory, or personal meaning. Once the stamps are carved, participants experiment with ink and paper, printing and repeating their designs to create patterns and layered compositions.

This hands-on workshop invites participants to reflect on how symbols can become vessels for storytelling. By carving, printing and sharing their prints,  participants explore the movement of stories across spaces, surfaces and people.
