From solo and group shows and ambitious new commissions, Jameel Arts Centre presents a dynamic international exhibitions programme that showcases important and pioneering work by established and emerging artists.
Exhibitions are curated in-house, guest-curated or produced in collaboration with arts institutions around the world, with the aim of showcasing original work and building knowledge on regional and international arts practices.
Our exhibitions, commissions and projects take place across the Centre – within the ten galleries, each with its own dimensions and character; in the Lobby, Project Space, Artist’s Garden, and on the Rooftop terrace.
The opening 2018-19 programme includes four Artist’s Rooms – solo shows based on the Art Jameel Collection, including Chiharu Shiota, Lala Rukh, Maha Malluh and Mounira Al Solh; ‘Crude’, a group exhibition including 16 artists and collectives, curated by guest curator Murtaza Vali; Contrary Life, a rooftop electric arboretum by Alia Farid and Aseel AlYaqoub; and new sculptural work that interacts with the building, including a new commission by Shaikha Al Mazrou in the Artist’s Garden.
Jameel Arts Centre is also dedicated to supporting artist’s practice through its ambitious cyclical commissioning programme, Art Jameel Commissions.
