This workshop was conceived as part of the Assembly 2020 Youth Takeover public programme and is delivered by artist and designer Tala Khalil. Limited capacity, first-come first-serve basis. Join Tala Khalil (member of the Assembly at Jameel Arts Centre) in a traditional dabkeh practice where participants learn the basic Palestinian dabkeh moves, while creating a mini choreography to folkloric music.

Palestinian by origin, Jordanian by nationality, Emirati by upbringing, Tala Yahya Khalil has always struggled with a sense of displacement. Through her academic journey as a visual communication student at the American University of Sharjah, Khalil delved into aspects of identity, culture, gender, expressing them through photography, experimental film, books, posters and installations.
