Jameel Arts Centre offers a wide range of volunteer opportunities, internships and full time roles which allow team members to enrich and develop their love of the arts while contributing to skills and talents to the Centre.

Our curatorial and educational programmes provide avenues for working with talented regional and international arts professionals. Throughout the year a variety of roles may become available, both in front-facing positions as well as behind the scenes.

Development Manager
Art Jameel takes an entrepreneurial, dynamic approach to its funding strategies, aiming for a diversified, long-term approach that builds sustainability for the organisation and its programmes. Based in Dubai, and reporting to the Head of Strategy and Development, this role involves developing and actioning new initiatives based on the organisation’s general strategic plan. Initiatives include, for example, launching and managing membership and patrons’ schemes; devising new Art Jameel enterprises; and managing the growth of existing projects, such as the Art Jameel Shop and Jameel Arts Centre restaurant. This would be achieved in part by building and managing partnerships and collaborations (working with the Public Programmes and Events teams at Jameel Arts Centre).

The role would suit a proactive project manager with strong business acumen and a positive, self-starter approach, who is a structured thinker and articulate networker, able to represent and communicate an organisation like Art Jameel to a broad range of audiences and potential/existing partners. An outgoing, entrepreneurial approach should be balanced with the sensitivity, determination and gravitas needed when liaising with both the private and public sector.

With a minimum of 3 years’ experience, ideally gained within a creative, entrepreneurial business or management consultancy, candidates should be able to demonstrate analytical skills, including being able to discuss detailed financial models, and presentation skills – including an ability to both develop internal documents and pitches aimed at potential external partners. Experience of working in the UAE or Gulf is beneficial.

Facilities Coordinator
The Facilities Coordinator is responsible for the management of services, processes and information systems that support the day-to-day operations of the Jameel Arts Centre and will be part of Art Jameel’s Operations team. The role requires technical expertise in supporting and monitoring the building’s facilities such as electricity, water, cooling and heating systems, alongside the IT infrastructure that includes building management, security, and telecommunications systems.

The Coordinator should be able to identify abnormalities, faults and malfunctions throughout the building’s physical structure and it’s underlying systems and advise on cost-effective solutions, energy consumption efficiency, and optimal operating temperatures.

This position also oversees building projects, renovations or refurbishments and manages providers for services including security, parking, cleaning, and catering. The Coordinator ensures that facilities are well-maintained and meet government regulations health and security standards.

Learning Coordinator
This position is part of a team of highly motivated, creative, responsive, and reflective education professionals who draw in broad audiences to the Jameel Arts Centre and help them navigate, debate and enjoy the exhibitions and programmes. The Learning Coordinator manages weekend and special events workshops, working with artists and designers; reaches out to schools and devises and manages their visits; and creates curriculum and children’s learning materials that complement and interpret the exhibitions and collections.

This role involves leading on nation-wide outreach to schools, universities, educational institutions and related government entities and contributes to establishing Jameel Arts Centre as a valuable resource for the educational community. Responsibilities include liaising with artists, structuring workshops, procuring materials and managing registration, sometimes working with additional staff, interns or volunteers.

This position is suited to an upcoming arts education professional looking to develop a career in early childhood education and expertise in running educational programming. The ideal candidate is bilingual (Arabic and English) and UAE-based

Volunteering at Jameel Arts Centre

Experience all the dynamism of Jameel Arts Centre from the inside via our volunteer programme! Arts enthusiasts and those looking to explore creative career paths are encouraged to apply; the exciting roles range from working directly with artists to produce new installations to welcoming and guiding visitors.

Visitor Experience Volunteers: Welcome Desk and Gallery Docents
Visitor Experience volunteers serve as the face of Jameel Arts Centre, helping to welcome and guide visitors and groups. Volunteers will meet visitors from every background—from students and families to international tourists—and will guide groups throughout the Centre, familiarising them with exhibitions, galleries and programmes. Friendly, outgoing (and bi- or multi-lingual) personalities are encouraged to apply.

Installation Volunteers: Exhibition Programmes
Exhibition volunteers get to work alongside local and international artists, the Jameel Arts Centre exhibitions team and guest curators on dynamic commissions and exhibitions. Volunteers will gain behind-the-scenes experience, ranging from installing artwork within the Centre to engaging with the Art Jameel Collection.

Art Jameel Internships

Jameel Arts Centre is delighted to support the next generation of art professionals by providing internship opportunities to applicants currently enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programmes, and those committed to a career in the arts. Interns gain institutional work experience, networking opportunities and a certificate of completion. Our highly competitive internships are awarded based on merit, expertise and a rigorous interview process.

Interns can expect to receive training in social media, public speaking and communication, networking, and creative research; participate in regular review and mentorship meetings; and attend art events and talks. The experience should provide insight into working in a community arts organisation and career opportunities within arts and culture, and enable the mapping of local and international partners and opportunities.

Jameel Arts Centre offers two types of internships: rotational and specialised.

Rotational interns receive training with each of our departments to gain a rounded experience of what it takes to run an arts centre. Rotation durations are determined by the overall duration of the internship.

Specialised interns will focus on one aspect of our work, and be paired with a senior member of the team for the entirety of their internship. The tracks that interns may opt to work in are: Curation, Collection & Exhibition; Library and Research; Administration; Events; Arts Education; Graphic Design; Social Media, Marketing and Communications.
