Facilities Coordinator – Deadline to apply: December 31, 2019
The Facilities Coordinator is responsible for the management of services, processes and information systems that support the day-to-day operations of the Jameel Arts Centre and will be part of Art Jameel’s Operations team. The role requires technical expertise in supporting and monitoring the building’s facilities such as electricity, water, cooling and heating systems, alongside the IT infrastructure that includes building management, security, and telecommunications systems.
The Coordinator should be able to identify abnormalities, faults and malfunctions throughout the building’s physical structure and it’s underlying systems and advise on cost-effective solutions, energy consumption efficiency, and optimal operating temperatures.
This position also oversees building projects, renovations or refurbishments and manages providers for services including security, parking, cleaning, and catering. The Coordinator ensures that facilities are well-maintained and meet government regulations health and security standards.

Registrar, Collections – Deadline to apply: January 19, 2020
This new position, based at Jameel Arts Centre, Dubai, provides assistance to the Head of Collections, and plays an important role in ensuring the registration, documentation and preservation of Art Jameel’s contemporary art collection, in accordance with international museum standards. The role incorporates a range of research, administrative and art handling activities including tracking and payment of invoices, logistics and shipping of artwork, collection care and safety, production of records and reports, data entry, filing, packing and unpacking of artworks, record management, liaising with internal and external parties, and other duties as required. The Registrar is also responsible for ensuring and developing guidelines for best practice to facilitate access to the Collection through exhibitions, publications and online resources.
The Registrar will work with the wider Art Jameel team, including the Learning and Research department, and undertake occasional work supporting the delivery of exhibitions, particularly leading on the maintenance, care and management of the Art Jameel Collection, both in storage and on display. The ideal candidate would be passionate about collection management and an advocate for the principles of collection care.
This position is suited to individuals with strong administration and coordination skills, with a methodical approach and attention to detail. Knowledge and/or experience of artwork installation methods, database management, artwork handling, packing and storage practices related to exhibitions, insurance, transportation and the preservation of art objects is essential. Fluency in English is essential; the ideal candidate would be bilingual (Arabic/English), UAE-based, and have good writing and editing skills.

Visitor Experience Volunteers: Welcome Desk and Gallery Docents
Visitor Experience volunteers serve as the face of Jameel Arts Centre, helping to welcome and guide visitors and groups. Volunteers will meet visitors from every background—from students and families to international tourists—and will guide groups throughout the Centre, familiarising them with exhibitions, galleries and programmes. Friendly, outgoing (and bi- or multi-lingual) personalities are encouraged to apply.
Installation Volunteers: Exhibition Programmes
Exhibition volunteers get to work alongside local and international artists, the Jameel Arts Centre exhibitions team and guest curators on dynamic commissions and exhibitions. Volunteers will gain behind-the-scenes experience, ranging from installing artwork within the Centre to engaging with the Art Jameel Collection.

Art Jameel Internships
Jameel Arts Centre is delighted to support the next generation of art professionals by providing internship opportunities to applicants currently enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programmes, and those committed to a career in the arts. Interns gain institutional work experience, networking opportunities and a certificate of completion. Our highly competitive internships are awarded based on merit, expertise and a rigorous interview process.
Interns can expect to receive training in social media, public speaking and communication, networking, and creative research; participate in regular review and mentorship meetings; and attend art events and talks. The experience should provide insight into working in a community arts organisation and career opportunities within arts and culture, and enable the mapping of local and international partners and opportunities.
Jameel Arts Centre offers two types of internships: rotational and specialised.
Rotational interns receive training with each of our departments to gain a rounded experience of what it takes to run an arts centre. Rotation durations are determined by the overall duration of the internship.
Specialised interns will focus on one aspect of our work, and be paired with a senior member of the team for the entirety of their internship. The tracks that interns may opt to work in are: Curation, Collection & Exhibition; Library and Research; Administration; Events; Arts Education; Graphic Design; Social Media, Marketing and Communications.
